Calcium ascorbate is one of the mineral salt forms of Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). It can provide both ascorbic acid and calcium, with more benefits to people with acid sensitive stomach. Calcium ascorbate is also commonly used as an antioxidant, preservative. It is usually sprayed on fresh-cut fruits and vegetables to increase shelf-life and is especially effective at preventing apples from turning brown. There are some other uses, such as added to diary based drinks, condensed milk, processed cheese, desserts, canned or bottled fruits and vegetables, breakfast cereals. General single dose for adult can be 1000mg (about ¼ teaspoon, which provides 900mg ascorbic acid and 100mg calcium mineral) daily with food.
